Viet Tran, MD

Practice description

Dr. Tran is a board certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon in Austin, TX.  He specializes in the treatment of degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. 

Born in Vietnam, he is an adopted Austinite.  After graduating from Lanier High School and University of Texas at Austin, he was an electrical engineer at IBM Austin for five years.  He then went to medical school in Galveston and completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Arkansas.  Dr. Tran came back to his hometown and to the Spine and Rehabilitation Center in 2002 after completing a spine fellowship at the famous Texas Back Institute. 

Dr. Tran’s approach to patient care is comprehensive, compassionate, conservative, yet innovative.  His goal is to apply his expertise in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar surgery to maximize his patients’ function and enhance their quality of live.  “The standard by which the Spine and Rehabilitation chooses to determine the appropriate services to patients is always based upon achieving maximum improvement in the individuals quality of life.”  His special interests include minimally invasive spine surgery and lumbar/cervical artificial disk replacement.

Dr. Tran and his wife Luan have three daughters.  He cherishes his family life and enjoys swimming, running, skiing, and traveling.
