Dr. Tipton is an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon in Austin, Texas. A native Austinite and son of
a physician, Dr. Tipton has practiced medicine in Austin
since 1983. He co-founded the Spine and Rehabilitation Center
in 1994 because he saw an opportunity to improve spine care
delivery. “Patients can have a higher quality of care
and better choices if the various providers of back care
share an environment which fosters communication. There is
value in the different disciplines exchanging ideas and I’m
a better surgeon because of the nonsurgical specialists I
work with. Here, the patient is the beneficiary of a team
solution. At SRC, we have developed a protocol which
matches the patient with the care they need at the least
invasive level. When an operation is necessary, our patients have experienced fellowship trained spine surgeons backed up by a structured program of post-operative rehabilitation.”
Dr. Tipton and his wife Brenda are
the parents of six children. Dr. Tipton enjoys reading, traveling,
tennis, camping, writing, oil painting, and UT basketball. Favorite
book: The Merchant of Prato by Iris Origo. Favorite destination:
Chamonix, France.
