William
Defoyd, MA, DC, DABCO, Cert. MDT Dr.
Bill Defoyd is a chiropractor specializing
in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal
conditions, with emphasis on adult and adolescent
mechanical spinal problems. Dr.
Defoyd has been in private practice in Austin for
over eighteen years, and is a founding member,
former managing partner and current head of the
Rehabilitation Department of the Spine and Rehabilitation
Center. “Treating patients with back
and neck pain starts with a focused history followed
by an individualized assessment to identify the
cause(s) of the patient’s symptoms. Treatment
often blends manual procedures such as manipulation,
soft tissue techniques and in some cases acupuncture,
with progression of an exercise program specific
to each patient’s condition. Our goals
are not only to provide care that relieves pain
and increases function, but to also teach patients
how to better manage these conditions through self
treatment strategies. ” This is
accomplished by giving each patient tools to
both prevent and effectively self treat recurrences
of symptoms through instruction in a focused
exercise program and correction of aggravating
activities seen in daily life.
Dr. Defoyd enjoys spending time
with his wife and daughter as well as running,
camping, kayaking, scuba diving and snow skiing.
